4Cr13 Stainless Steel Introduction

4Cr13 steel (New name: 40Cr13) is a martensitic type stainless steel, which has higher hardness than 3Cr13 steel after quenching. The steel has good mechanical processing performance. After heat treatment (quenching and tempering), it has good corrosion resistance, polishing performance, high strength and wear resistance.

  • Tempering: 200 – 300 ℃ (Air cooling)

Forging

Oil quenching cold work die steel has some crack sensitivity. It should not be heated quickly when forging heating. It’s better to preheat at 650-750 °C. The forging heating temperature is 1130-1150 °C, and the final forging temperature should be greater than 800-850 °C. The upper limit temperature is taken when the ingot is forged, and the lower limit temperature is taken when the billet is forged.

Applications

Stainless steel 4Cr13 is suitable for manufacturing plastic molds, transparent plastic products moulds, etc. which are subjected to high load, high wear resistance and corrosive medium. Also used in the manufacture of hot oil pumps, tools, valve seats, valves, nozzles, measuring tools, medical equipment, springs, etc.
